Filipa Homem is a Lisbon-based fashion designer, ceramic artist, creative consultant, and lecturer whose work moves fluidly between fashion, craft, and education. Guided by curiosity and material exploration, she develops a distinctive approach to both design and pedagogy, grounded in deep textile knowledge, artistic research, and interdisciplinary practice. Since 2022, she has been the Creative Director of the Fashion Department at Burel Factory, where she leads projects that merge innovation with tradition, reinterpreting Serra da Estrela wool through a modern design language. She also teaches Fashion Design Project at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Lisbon, where her pedagogical approach emphasizes experimentation, textile thinking, and the fostering of both individual and collaborative creative expression, seeking to bridge academic practice with the contemporary challenges of the fashion industry. Her ceramic work, developed through a five year course at Ar.Co, independent arts school, reflects the same sensitivity to material, colour, and process. Working mainly with porcelain and self-built plaster moulds made from discarded construction materials, she creates colourful shapes and creatures that celebrate transformation and play. In 2020, she founded hOmem, a personal project that gathers her worlds — fashion, ceramics, and research — into a single space of experimentation and storytelling.
